Veranta Review 2026
About Veranta
Veranta is a decentralized perpetual futures exchange on Base (Coinbase's Ethereum L2), formerly Avantis until its rebrand on September 14, 2026, that lets traders take long or short positions on crypto, forex, commodities, indices, and equities from one non-custodial USDC account. Every trade settles against a shared USDC vault (avUSDC) at oracle prices from Pyth and Chainlink. The V2 protocol, launched in August 2026, lists 148 markets according to the exchange's public API, and US equities trade 24 hours a day, five days a week. Veranta charges fees by open-interest skew instead of order type. On crypto, a trade that adds to the heavier side of a market pays a 0.045% taker fee at open and close, and a trade that joins the lighter side pays a 0.001% maker fee. Forex, commodities, indices, and equities carry zero maker and taker fees while those markets are in what the team calls growth mode, although spread and hourly funding still apply. Upside Perps (formerly Zero-Fee Perpetuals) are available on BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, and HYPE: there is no opening, closing, or borrow fee, and a winning trader keeps 75% to 95% of the profit. Maximum leverage is 500x, available on FX majors (USDJPY, EURUSD, GBPUSD) and on BTC, ETH, and SOL Upside Perps. Fixed-fee crypto majors are capped at 50x, crypto altcoins at 40x, metals at 200x, indices and FX minors at 100x, and US equities and oil at 25x. All positions use isolated margin and are liquidated at an 85% loss of collateral. The exchange launched on Base mainnet in February 2024, is backed by Pantera, Founders Fund, Galaxy, and the Base Ecosystem Fund, and has recorded over $20B in cumulative volume.

Pros & Cons
PROS
- + Zero maker and taker fees on forex, commodities, indices and equities while those markets are in growth mode (spread and funding still apply)
- + Crypto fees of 0.045% taker and 0.001% maker per side, where maker means a trade that reduces open-interest skew
- + Upside Perps on BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and HYPE: no opening, closing or borrow fees, and traders keep 75% to 95% of profit on winning trades
- + 148 listed markets from one USDC account: 55 crypto pairs, 10 forex pairs, 4 commodities, and 79 equities and indices, with US equities trading 24/5
- + Up to 500x leverage on FX majors and on BTC, ETH and SOL Upside Perps; metals up to 200x, indices up to 100x, US equities up to 25x
- + Gasless trading: users sign orders and the protocol pays the Base gas, so no ETH is needed to trade
- + AVNT staking cuts fixed fees by up to 30% and Upside profit share by up to 25% across 5 tiers, and stacks with the 5% referral discount
- + No KYC and non-custodial: log in with an EVM wallet, email, SMS, Google or X and trade with USDC on Base
- + V1 audited by Zellic and Zokyo, V1.5 by Zellic and Sherlock, and V2 by Sherlock, Zellic and Guardian
CONS
- − Deployed on Base only, and USDC is the only accepted collateral
- − Fixed-fee leverage on crypto majors is capped at 50x and altcoins at 40x; higher crypto leverage requires Upside Perps, which take 5% to 25% of profit
- − Profit on a single position is capped at 2500% of collateral on most markets, and positions are liquidated at an 85% loss
- − Leverage is cut around macro events and weekends, for example gold from 200x to 25x ahead of US CPI reports
- − No dedicated insurance fund for traders; LP shortfalls are covered by a vault buffer and the AVNT Security Module, where up to 20% of staked AVNT can be slashed
- − The V2 audit reports from Guardian, Sherlock and Zellic were not yet published on the audits page as of October 2026
- − TVL of about 11.4 million dollars on DeFiLlama is small next to larger perp DEXs, and no native mobile app is documented
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Veranta the same as Avantis?
Yes. Avantis rebranded to Veranta on September 14, 2026, and avantisfi.com now redirects to veranta.xyz. Veranta is a decentralized perpetual futures exchange on Base where traders use USDC to go long or short on crypto, forex, commodities, indices, and equities. The AVNT token kept its ticker and contract address after the rename.
What are Veranta fees?
Veranta charges 0.045% taker and 0.001% maker on crypto, applied at open and close. A taker adds to the heavier side of open interest and a maker joins the lighter side. Forex, commodities, indices, and equities have zero maker and taker fees during growth mode. Spread and hourly funding apply on every market.
What is the maximum leverage on Veranta?
The maximum leverage on Veranta is 500x, offered on FX majors (USDJPY, EURUSD, GBPUSD) and listed for BTC, ETH, and SOL Upside Perps. Fixed-fee crypto majors go up to 50x and altcoins up to 40x. Does Veranta require KYC?
No. Veranta does not require KYC to trade. Users log in with an EVM wallet, email, SMS, Google, or X and deposit USDC on Base. Card purchases through the Fun.xyz on-ramp may require KYC from the payment provider. The terms of service bar US persons and residents of Russia, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Syria.
What are Upside Perps on Veranta?
Upside Perps on Veranta are the renamed Zero-Fee Perpetuals. They have no opening, closing, or borrow fees, and a losing trade pays no platform fee. On a winning trade the trader keeps 75% to 95% of the profit, with the share rising with ROI. They are live on BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, and HYPE from 1x leverage.
What collateral and networks does Veranta support?
USDC is the only collateral on Veranta, and the exchange runs only on Base. Trading is gasless, so users do not need ETH. Deposits can be made with USDC on Base, by card, from a Coinbase account, or by sending other crypto from supported networks, which the Fun.xyz on-ramp converts to USDC on Base.
Is Veranta safe and has it been audited?
